OUR STORY
Vinyl Drift Listening Collective was birthed out of the womb of healing arts movement organization, From The Soil Movement.
Over time, we felt something shift. The sound — once full-bodied and alive — began to feel distant, compressed and hollow. As movement artists, this change wasn't subtle. When the MUSIC is off, the MOVEMENT is off. Our connection to rhythm, memory and spirit is interrupted.
What began as frustration became a deeper question:
What happens when we can no longer hear clearly?
Not just with our ears — but with our whole selves?
In response, we created a space to return to sound in its most honest form. A space to sit with the fullness of vinyl, the warmth of analog, the presence of a needle touching groove.
We listen together — not just for entertainment, but for restoration.
We treat music as study.
As spiritual practice.
As liberation work.
This is for those who feel the difference. For dancers, audiophiles, collectors, artists and anyone longing to reconnect with sound that moves from the inside out.
Our mission is to retrain our ears and decolonize our listening.
To remember what it feels like to be fully present with music — to feel its weight, its vibration, its story.
This is not a throwback. It’s a return.
A return to tangible sound.
To deep listening.
To community.
To ourselves.
